The meeting was called to order by David Svedman. David introduced and welcomed new committee member, Karen Maston. Lance Davis called the roll. Members present were: Marcellius Bell, Wanda Felty, Ken Talley, Katie Kissinger, Terry Trego, John Gajda, Freda Cowart, Rene’ Daman, John Corpolongo, Nina Honeyman, Theresa Flannery and Karen Maston.. Absent were: Dyann Arnett, Kim Beach, Dee Blose, Tori Collier, Michele Disario, Teri Egner, Cassell Lawson, Eddie Miller, and Valerie Williams.

Comments from Jim Nicholson, DDSD Director
Jim introduced Ann Dee Lee, new Public Information Officer for DDSD.
Jim gave a brief update on the proposed DHS budget for FY-12. He said DHS still needs 39 million just to keep providing services at current levels. He reported that waiver rates are not on the table, nor are the state funded programs. As soon as he has more information he’ll pass it along to committee members, staff and providers.
Human Rights Committees and State Behavior Review Committee
Michaela Bishop, DDSD State Training Coordinator and Psychological Services
Coordinator, gave an informational presentation about the Human Rights
Committees and the State Behavior Review Committee. As she reviewed the
purpose and scope of each committee she also fielded questions from members
of the advisory committee.
Review of reimbursement of travel for ACSPDD members
Samantha Galloway reviewed the practice of travel reimbursement for members
of the ACSPDD. She noted that it was not mandated in statue or bylaws but had
been a practice since the inception of the committee to reimburse members for
travel if they are not an employee of a state agency. She also reminded
members to claim from the location they traveled from to the meeting, home or
work, whichever is closer.. She noted they should contact her or Karol Miller if
anyone had questions or needed information about filing a claim.
Proposed DDSD Administrative Rules – Terry Trego
Terry Trego, chair of the policy sub-committee, presented the following slate of proposed DDSD Administrative Rules.
All rules were approved by the committee.
