Human Immunodeficient Virus (HIV) is a viral infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that gradually destroys the immune system.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). AIDS is the final and most serious stage of HIV disease.  It is characterized by signs and symptoms of severe immune deficiency.
