Developmental Disabilities Services: Volunteer Services
Service Information

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) volunteers work throughout the year to raise funds to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and gifts for people with developmental disabilities who would otherwise go without during the holidays.

Volunteers work with various community organizations and other agencies to raise funds and distribute the donations around the state.

DDSD also administers the Foster Grandparent Volunteer program. Foster grandparent volunteers are senior citizens who work with children with special needs in schools, child care centers and Head Start programs. The Foster Grandparent program is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the Corporation for National Community Service.
