The Aging Services Division (ASD) develops, plans and administers services to Oklahomans age 60 and older to support their independence and protect their quality of life.

Programs within ASD include:

211 Oklahoma
The 211 Oklahoma program serves as a single point for Oklahomans to call for information and referral regarding housing, health care, child care, counseling, financial assistance or volunteer opportunities.

ADvantage Waiver
Older Oklahomans and persons with disabilities who are eligible for nursing home care under Medicaid can receive home- and community-based services through the ADvantage Waiver program. The program enables Oklahomans to remain in their own homes.

Grandparent Initiative
The Grandparent Initiative serves as an information clearinghouse, offers training programs and conferences, develops support groups and coordinates advocacy and educational activities for grandparents and other relatives rearing grandchildren.

Legal Services to Older Persons
The legal services developer consults with aging services and legal services providers on legal assistance available to older individuals.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman
The ombudsman program serves Oklahomans living in nursing homes, assisted living and residential care homes. Ombudsmen, who are specially trained volunteers, receive complaints and attempt to resolve these complaints within the facility.

National Family Caregiver Respite
Vouchers can be used to purchase respite services to allow a caregiver to have some time away from caregiving responsibilities.

Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy
The Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy (OAALA) identifies and trains volunteers from all adult age groups to serve as advocates for older Oklahomans.

Oklahoma Court-Appointed Advocates for Vulnerable Adults
Citizen volunteers provide information and recommendations to local district judges in matters of guardianship or other legal proceedings for vulnerable adults.

Older American Act
The Older Americans Act funds the nutrition program, information and referral, personal in-home assistance and caregiver support. Eleven Area Agencies on Aging oversee the provision of nutrition and supportive services.

Older Women's Initiative
The Older Women's Initiative works to enhance the quality of life of older Oklahoma women.

Personal Care
The Personal Care program provides personal care in the home of any person, regardless of age, who meets Medicaid financial and medical eligibility guidelines.

Transportation for the Elderly and Adults with Disabilities
Transportation services provide trips to doctors' offices, shopping, meal sites, other essential services and special events.

Volunteer Services For Older Persons
Older Oklahomans can use their life skills and experience to assist others through several volunteer programs. They receive stipends, transportation, physical exams, insurance
and meals.
