340:75-12-13. Maltreatment of group home residents

     Department of Human Services (DHS) rules prohibit the abuse, neglect, or maltreatment of group home residents and provide for employee disciplinary action of any staff who engage in these activities.  DHS rules require employees to report any suspected abuse, neglect, or maltreatment of children residing in a group home.   • 1    Group home staff receive training in DHS policy concerning their responsibility to report abuse, neglect, or maltreatment of residents.  [OAC 340:2-3-33]   • 2 

INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF 340:75-12-13

1.  Staff reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or maltreatment of a resident are written and given to the Child Welfare group homes programs manager.  Staff document any injuries observed in their report.

2.  Staff do not curse or threaten residents.  Staff do not subject residents to acts of intimidation, fear, group punishment for individual acts, unreasonable silence rules, repetitive nonfunctional, degrading, or unnecessary tasks.
