     Youth Advisory Board was created for eligible youth to have the opportunity to work together with other interested youth and adults to educate the community about issues of youth in out-of-home placement, improve the child welfare system through problem solving, promote independent living through training, and bridge the gap between youth and adults.  The board includes current and former DHS and tribal custody youth, and Children and Family Services Division (CFSD) and adult advisors.  Members of the board meet four times per year.  Task force groups meet on an as needed basis.  • 1 through 3

INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF 340:75-6-115.6

1.  The Child Welfare (CW) worker advises any eligible youth of the Youth Advisory Board and the youth's opportunity to participate.

2.  If a youth indicates a desire to participate in a Youth Advisory Board, the CW worker contacts the current Independent Living (IL) contractor.  

3.  Reimbursement for mileage is available for the individual providing the transportation to the Youth Advisory Board.  This reimbursement can be made to the eligible youth, the CW worker, placement provider, or mentor.  Mileage reimbursement requests are submitted to the Children and Family Services Division (CFSD) IL Coordinator office for approval and processing.
