(a) An applicant or participating household whose head of household as defined in OAC 340:50-5-90 voluntarily quit a job is not eligible to participate if the:

• (1) voluntary quit occurred within 60 days prior to the date of application or anytime thereafter;
• (2) employment quit involved 20 hours or more per week or provided weekly earnings of at least the equivalent of the federal minimum wage multiplied by 20;
• (3) head of household is a required work registrant; and   • 1
• (4) individual did not have good cause to quit.

(b) Changes made in employment status which result from reducing hours of employment while working for same employer, terminating a self-employment enterprise, or resigning from a job at the demand of the employer are not considered as a voluntary quit.

(c) If the head of household who voluntarily quit subsequently secures new employment of at least 20 hours per week or weekly earnings equivalent to the federal minimum wage multiplied by 20 hours, the voluntary quit provision does not apply.  If the individual is then laid off or through no fault of his or her own loses the new job, the earlier voluntary quit does not form the basis for a disqualification.

(d) An employee of the federal, state, or local government who participates in a strike against such government, and is dismissed from his or her job because of participation in the strike, is considered to have voluntarily quit the job.
