     Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) offers two forms of training regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Privacy Rule and how the regulations relate to specific job functions.  Every OKDHS employee whose job function is affected by the Privacy Rule is required to complete an available training course.   • 1

INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF 340:2-8-3

 

1.  Each division within Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) establishes its own internal procedure for ensuring all new employees are trained regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule.

(1) Web-based.

(A) A web-based training is available at all times and easily utilized by employees with Internet access at the workstation.

(B) Specific instructions for the web-based training can be found at:

(2) Video.

(A) A video is available for employees who do not have access to the Internet.  A handbook accompanies the video training product.

(B) Videos and handbooks are available by contacting the HIPAA coordinator in the Family Support Services Division.
