The annual application period for OKDHS employees interested in becoming candidates in the State of Oklahoma Certified Public Manager program begins Sept. 1.
CPM is a comprehensive management training program designed to identify and develop OKDHS employees who have potential administrative and managerial skills. Graduates put their training to use in a variety of roles to assist in developing and administering programs. They must devote at least 32 hours each year to facilitate CPM-related activities and may be called on to mentor candidates, work on special projects, task forces and committees, or to attend state and national CPM conferences.
The 300 hours of CPM coursework teaches you proven ways to successfully solve problems, concerns and issues to better accomplish the OKDHS mission. Candidates are also required to complete four examinations and three job-related projects. Candidates must complete the course and qualify for graduation within 5 years.
To qualify, employees must have at least three years of continuous service with the State of Oklahoma - two of which must be with OKDHS - and must be at least five years from retirement. You must have already demonstrated the potential to perform administrative, managerial or supervisory functions and your last two OPM-111s must reflect a rating of meets standards or higher on all accountabilities and behaviors. It is very important that applicants review OKDHS:2-17-60.
To apply, Form 11TR001E, Application for Admission to the CPM Program, must be submitted to the Human Resources Management Division no later than Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. Incomplete or untimely applications will not be considered.
Applicants will be interviewed by members of the CPM program steering committee, who will rank each of the applicants. Their recommendations are then submitted to the OKDHS chief officers, who make the final selections. Please note that the number of candidates selected may vary due to budgetary limitations.
