The Comanche County Human Services Center's employee recognition committee were busy fighting for the cause of breast cancer awareness in October 2010. Many fundraising activities to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation were held.
The ERC group ordered 100 bracelets which were sold for $5 each and they went in a hurry. The bracelets had messages of encouragement like “Fight like a Girl” or “Love, Faith and Hope." For every ticket they bought, the purchaser received a chance to win a pink throw blanket. The winner of the throw was Jennifer Reece.
Staff also had a “Think Pink Day," paying $1 each to wear jeans and their best pink attire. (pictured left)
Comanche County Director Sandra James provided food items for a nacho sale with all proceeds benefiting the breast cancer fund.
The ERC organized a bake sale and asked all staff who wished to participate to bring items to sell. Three beautiful cakes were donated by Beth’s Cakes.
Liz Wood, social services specialist II, contributed delicious snacks like white chocolate popcorn balls and pink ribbon suckers for another fundraiser. It was also a huge success.
As the grand finale of ERC’S Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a silent auction was held for a beautiful Scentsy warmer that was donated by Suzanne Parrish, Scentsy independent consultant. The warmer, decorated in a pink breast cancer ribbon theme, also came with two scents, a car deodorizer, room spray and an extra light bulb. The high bidder was Liz Wood.
All the activities combined raised $825, which was donated to the Komen Foundation.
