OKDHS’ very own print shop was featured in the February issue of In-plant Graphics magazine for setting the standard in bindery.
Tina Gray, print shop manager, pictured near left, saw an opportunity last year when an older saddle stitching machine’s contract was about to expire. Instead of renewing the agreement, Gray decided it would be a perfect time to upgrade to newer, more efficient equipment. Gray added a four-tower Standard Horizon VAC collator system in addition to a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddle stitching system. The addition of this equipment has greatly reduced the workload and time it takes to print and stitch materials for the department.
"With this equipment, there was no more setting anything bu hand on the side guides," she said. "Everything is automated now, and that was a big factor for the operators; they really like automated features."
