OKLAHOMA CAPITOL – Oklahoma Child Support Services (OCSS) announced today the 1,000,000th document has been received and processed by the Oklahoma Employer Services Center (OKESC).
“The OKESC provides assistance and education for Oklahoma employers concerning child support issues, serving as a one-stop shop,” said OCSS Director Gary W. Dart.
Employers are required by law to enter new hires and rehires of full-time, part-time and contract workers into a registry at the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission within 20 days of the hire date. That data is then transmitted to the National Directory of New Hires.
Approximately 70% of all child support collections in Oklahoma are remitted by employers each month.
“Employers are an important partner in making sure children receive the child support they need,” Dart explained. “We opened the OKESC in 2008 to help employers with their questions about child support.”
“Some of the documents employers receive can be really complex. The Income Withholding Order and the National Medical Support Notice are examples of documents that prompt questions. These two deal with providing for cash child support and insurance enrollment.”
OKESC representatives are trained to answer questions about New Hire Reporting, incoming withholding orders and medical support. The OKESC is a collaborative effort between OCSS and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management.
