OKLAHOMA CITY -- Trish Emig, Stillwater, was recently given the Achievement in Aging, 2012 Advocate of the Year award.
Emig is Chair of the Oklahoma Alliance on Aging’s Legislative Advocacy Strategy Committee and the serves on the Oklahoma State Council on Aging. Each legislative session, she volunteers her time to research the filed bills and identify ones affecting older Oklahomans. She follows and reports on the bills and often drives back and forth between her home in Stillwater and the state capitol to advocate on legislation affecting older Oklahomans.
“Trish spends an enormous amount of time and effort on her advocacy efforts,” said OKDHS Aging Services Division Director Lance Robertson. “She is a fixture at the capitol and motivates others to take action on issues critical to older Oklahomans. Her advocacy has benefited many older Oklahomans and she deserves recognition as the 2012 Advocate of the Year.”
Robertson presented the award at the 37th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging in Norman. The annual Achievement in Aging awards are presented by the OKDHS Aging Services Division. For more information about aging-related services contact the Senior InfoLine at 1-800-211-2116.
