National Senior Service Corps Programs Applications Available

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Aging Services Division announced the application period is open for the $535,908 in state funds to supplement and expand the federally-funded National Senior Corps programs in the state. Currently 22 programs receive funding in Oklahoma.

Programs funded through the National Senior Service Corps include: Foster Grandparent Programs, Senior Companion Programs and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs. The Foster Grandparent and the Senior Companion programs provide senior citizens who meet specific income guidelines an opportunity to receive a modest stipend for services they provide to some of our state’s most vulnerable citizens.

Applicants for the state funds must already be an approved program funded through the Corporation for National and Community Services Senior Corps. Application must be made in writing and in accordance with established state and federal guidelines.

To apply for these funds, contact: Robert Adams, OKDHS Aging Services programs administrator, 2401 NW 23rd St. Ste. 40, Oklahoma City, OK, 73107; (405) 521-2327; or by e-mail at Robert.Adams@OKDHS.org.
