Applications Sought for Continued Service Corps Funding

National Senior Service Corp Programs

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services Aging Services Division is seeking applications for $527,392 in state funds available to supplement and expand the federally funded National Senior Service Corps programs. There are currently 22 programs in Oklahoma receiving state funding.

Programs funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service Senior Corps include Foster Grandparent Programs, Senior Companion Programs and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs.

The Foster Grandparent and the Senior Companion programs provide senior citizens who meet specific income guidelines an opportunity to receive a modest stipend for services they provide to some of our state’s more vulnerable citizens.

Applicants for the state funds must already operate an approved program funded through the Corporation for National and Community Service Senior Corps. Applications must be made in writing in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

Persons interested in applying for these funds may contact: Carey Garland, Interim Director, OKDHS Aging Services Division, 2401 NW 23 Street, Suite 40, Oklahoma City, OK, 73107; by telephone at: (405) 521-2281, or by e-mail: carey.garland@OKDHS.org.
