Hagerman Named New OKDHS Benefits Services Manager

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Kay Hagerman, a 19-year veteran with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, has been named the new Human Resources Management Division Benefits Services Unit manager for the Department.

In this capacity, Hagerman will lead a wide variety of OKDHS employee-related programs including the Employee Wellness Program, the Education Incentive and Education Assistance programs and the Employee Recognition Program. She will also manage the employee benefits program, which includes insurance and the Corporate Assistance Program.

“Kay’s diverse background with the Department brings a wealth of experience and will be a tremendous asset in performing her duties in the HRMD Benefits Services Unit,” said A.L. Smith, HRMD, director. “I am personally delighted to have her join our HR Team and look forward to using her talents and expertise in providing quality service to our OKDHS employees and their families.”

Hagerman began her career with OKDHS in 1985 as a Family Support temporary social worker in Beckham County. In 1993, she was promoted to Family Support supervisor with dual county duties in Beckham and Roger Mills counties.

She was named County Director for Blaine County in 1995, and served in that capacity until August 2002 when she was appointed County Director for Custer and Dewey counties.

Hagerman graduated from Sayre High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford. She is also a Certified Public Manager through the National Society of Certified Public Managers and was chosen for the Executive Leadership Series IV in 1996.

Hagerman is currently a member of the OKDHS CPM Steering Committee charged with facilitating the use of CPM graduates within OKDHS and serves as president of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Managers after serving as a board member and President Elect. She also serves on a number of boards and task forces.

Hagerman’s husband of 27 years, Lynn, is a fertilizer plant manager for Ag Links, LLC.
