Applications Sought for Continued Funding of Programs

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Aging Services Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services is seeking applications for $527,392 in state funds available to supplement and expand the federally funded National Senior Service Corps programs. Currently there are 21 programs throughout the state receiving funding.

Programs funded by the National Senior Service Corps include Foster Grandparent Programs, Senior Companion Programs and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs. These programs provide senior citizens who meet specific income guidelines an opportunity to receive a modest stipend for services they provide to some of our state’s more vulnerable citizens.

Applications for these state funds must be a National Senior Service Corps program already funded through the Corporation for National And Community Service. Applications must be made in writing and in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

Persons interested in applying for these funds may contact: the OKDHS Aging Services Division, 312 N.E. 28th, Oklahoma City, OK, 73105, or by calling: (405) 521-2327.
