OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Terry J. Martin, a 21-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, has been named the new director of the OKDHS Human Services Center in McCurtain County.

“Terry has exceptional knowledge of the challenges facing citizens in McCurtain County and has made great strides in developing relationships to help OKDHS deliver its services,” said OKDHS Area IV Director William Wilson.

Martin began his OKDHS career in 1982 in McCurtain County as a Family Support Services Division social worker. He served as the county director in Pushmataha County from March 2000 to November 2001. Martin also has more than 12 years of experience as a Family Support Services Division supervisor in McCurtain County and served in that role prior to being named the new county director.

“I have worked with many of the staff for more than 20 years and found them to be extremely dedicated to the citizens and families in McCurtain County,” Martin said. “I look forward to working with the staff in this new role.

“The strength of any community is dependent upon the relationship of the local partners and the organizations in the community. I hope to continue the existing community and business relationships and work to formulate new partnerships.”

Martin graduated from Antlers High School in Pushmataha County. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration in 1982 from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant, Okla.

Martin and his wife, Regina, a third-grade teacher in the Idabel Public School system, have one daughter, Mallarey, who attends Idabel High School.
