State Seeks Applications for Continued Funding for Service Corp Programs

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL ---The Aging Services Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) is now accepting applications from National Senior Service Corps programs for the $527,392 in state funds available to supplement and expand the 21 programs currently funded through this federal/state partnership.

Programs funded through the National Senior Service Corps include Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs. These programs provide senior citizens who meet specific income guidelines an opportunity to work for a modest stipend in services to some of Oklahoma's more vulnerable citizens.

Applicants for the state funding must already be a National Senior Services Corp program funded through the Corporation for National and Community Services. Applications must be made in writing and in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

Persons interested in applying for these funds may contact Roy Keen, director of Aging Services, in writing at OKDHS Aging Services Division, 312 N.E. 28th St., Oklahoma City, OK, 73105; by telephone at (405) 521-2327; or by e-mail: Communications@OKDHS.org.
