OKDHS Worker Honored for Life-Saving Actions

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- An employee of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services has been honored by the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services for quick action in saving the life of an elderly man.

Agnes Tobler, a 22-year employee of the Department, was presented an OKDHS Certificate of Commendation at the January meeting of the Commission in Oklahoma City.

Tobler is an Adult Protective Services Specialist at Oklahoma County Office 55C and was checking on the well-being of clients in October when she visited the home of an elderly man.

She found the man unconscious on the floor. Tobler immediately called for emergency medical service, and the man was taken to a hospital. Hospital staff said the man had suffered a massive stroke and would likely not have survived if Tobler had not acted immediately in getting him to the hospital.

Tobler has worked in adult protective services for three years and previously had worked in other areas of family support services for 10 years and eight years at Children’s Hospital.
