Arvella Donahue Named Washington County Director

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Arvella Donahue, a 5-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, was named Director of the OKDHS office in Washington County.

"Arvella brings with her a wealth of experience, character and compassion to this position," said Stephen R. Scott, Area VI Director. "I’m looking forward to working with her as a part of the Area VI management team."

Donahue began her OKDHS career as a Case Manager for the Developmental Disabilities Services Division. She later served as the Family Support Services and Adult Protective Services Supervisor for Washington County.

Before coming to OKDHS, Donahue worked as a Programs Coordinator for ARC Group Homes and as a Supervisor for the Arkansas Employment Security Division/Comprehensive Employment and Training Act. She also worked for Phillips Petroleum for 10 years.

"I’m looking forward to the opportunity to serve the citizens of Washington County and the surrounding area," said Donahue. "The entire staff of the Washington County OKDHS office will work hard to supply our clients with the tools they need to empower themselves to improve their quality of life."

Donahue graduated from Searcy High School in Searcy, Arkansas. She earned her Associate of Arts degree from Arkansas State Junior College and later received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bartlesville Wesleyan College, Oklahoma.

Donahue volunteers with Family Care Services where she mentors young mothers. She also volunteers with the Venture Scouting Program and is a member of the Bartlesville Ski/Scuba club.

Donahue has two children, Kevin Farley, who owns and operates an auto repair service, and Cynthia Hahn, who is a full-time mom. She also has five grandchildren.
