Center for Operations: Office of Appeals
Office Information

The Office of Appeals, through Oklahoma Child Support Services (OCSS) Appellate Counsel, prosecutes and defends appeals on behalf of OCSS, both from administrative court to district court and from district court to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

This office files initial appellate proceedings and responsive pleadings in cases throughout the state and monitors pending appeals for pleading deadlines and the possible impact of litigation on program goals.

We also work with legal staff in field offices to assist with appeals when the field staff wishes to retain the appeal within the field office.

The Office of Appeals consults with stakeholders throughout the program when considering an appeal of an issue with possible program-wide significance. Appellate counsel serves on both the joint policy and legislation committee and the standing rules committee.
