Linda English Weeks

Oklahoma Commission for Human Services

Gov. Brad Henry appointed Norman resident Linda English Weeks as a member of the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services.

English Weeks received her juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2000. Upon graduation from law school, she was a member of the English Law Firm in Norman with her practice being primarily in family law.

She began working in Brad Henry’s first campaign for governor in January 2002, as the fundraising coordinator. She was also responsible for raising funds for all inaugural activities after both successful elections. English Weeks worked in Gov. Henry’s administration for seven years and served as First Lady Kim Henry’s chief of staff and the governor’s mansion administrator.

English Weeks was appointed by Gov. Henry to serve on the Oklahoma Capitol Complex and Centennial Commemoration Commission. As the governor’s designee, she was extensively involved in facilitating the centennial celebrations across the state. Linda also served as an advisory board member of Friends of the Mansion, Inc., which is a non-profit that helps with the preservation and maintenance of the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion.

English Weeks is also on the board of visitors for the University of Oklahoma College of Liberal Studies.

She is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Class XVIII and Leadership Norman. She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Foundation.

English Weeks is a member of the Chickasaw Tribe and takes great pride in her Native American heritage. She is an avid runner, having finished five marathons, one triathlon and is looking forward to her final marathon next year.

A Norman resident, she works at the Sarkeys Foundation as senior program officer. She and her husband, Charles Weeks, have three grown children and one granddaughter.
