Portable Keyboard Device

1. General Statement of Purpose:

1.1. The purpose of this standard is to list the items that must be procured for a Portable Keyboard Device, for OKDHS staff who require a portable word processor with a standard size keyboard, and do not need any additional computing software and/or want to spend less than the cost of a Laptop PC. 

 

2. Scope

2.1. This standard includes hardware and supplies for a portable keyboard, which does not require installation or setup costs.

2.2. This standard is established to provide guidance for the purchase of the subject item. The product described in this standard was selected based upon the evaluation and recommendation DSD/Research & Strategy.

4.2. Portable Keyboard – A battery powered keyboard device with basic word processing and text storage capabilities. It is used to input information where a networked computer is not available, and the text inserted into applications on a networked computer in the office at a later time.

4.3. USB - Universal Serial Bus. A connection standard for quick and easy device connection to a computer that supports up to 127 devices per USB interface. This technology relatively recent, but is widely used, and may one day supersede the original serial interface.
