The Family Foster Care Section is a component of the Resource Unit, Children and Family Services Division (CFSD) located in the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) State Office in Oklahoma City. Its goal is to provide training, guidelines, support and expertise to equip child welfare staff with the necessary skills to provide quality services to foster families throughout the state of Oklahoma.
On-going training is provided on a quarterly basis to all foster care specialists to ensure they remain up-to-date on all the current agency, state and federal foster care policies and guidelines. This section also works with field staff to help organize and support activities and events that promote the recruitment and retention of foster homes.
Section personnel are available when needed to attend staffings and other meetings in the county offices to provide advice and expertise on issues that may arise. Additionally, the section coordinates the development and implementation of foster care resource family training.
