What We Do

The Payroll Unit is responsible for tracking and maintaining the attendance and leave of Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) employees, processing employee pay level changes as indicated, payroll preparation and submission to the State Treasurer and accounting for proper distribution of wage attachments from individual OKDHS payroll warrants.

The unit manager directs the activities of four professional-level staff and the initiatives of four sections within the unit.

One section is responsible for approval of shared leave requests, development of payroll-related policy, training of field staff on the timekeeping system, assisting agency staff with changes to deferred compensation, as well as auditing and preparing approximately 13 payrolls monthly.

One section is responsible for submission of all payrolls to the Office of State Finance and the State Treasurer, as well as statewide distribution of payroll warrants. The section is also responsible for disbursement of payroll claims, direct deposit authorizations, end of the month reporting and timekeeper user security.

One section is responsible for the OKDHS wage attachments and distribution of all warrants to creditors, as well as responding to numerous inquires from courts, attorneys and employees.

One section is responsible for retirement coordination as well as inquiries from the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System and employees. This section is also responsible for salary verification, name and address changes and staff duties.
