This unit is Oklahoma's agency for the USDA Food Distribution program, which strengthens agriculture markets by removing surplus food and providing price stability with product purchases. The unit orders, stores and distributes USDA foods to eligible recipients.

The unit also administers the USDA school nutrition programs for the private schools and residential child care institutions in Oklahoma.
