As a Communications Manager, Mary serves as the editor of the Inside OKDHS newsletter and manages media inquiries from local, state and national media. She was proud to be part of a team that received a Quality Award and Governor’s Commendation in 2008 for providing innovative government solutions.

Mary has worked as a police/courthouse reporter for a daily newspaper and has received writing awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for coverage of a jail escape and subsequent manhunt and from the Oklahoma Newspaper Executives/Associated Press for team coverage of the effects of domestic violence on a community. Most recently, she worked in healthcare marketing as a newsletter editor and media relations representative for a metro-area hospital and health care system.

Mary has a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from Oklahoma State University. Mary and her husband Brian have two sons, Braden and Alex. She is a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma.
