About this Site
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) recently re-launched its Web site featuring a new look and features. The re-launch also aligned hundreds of OKDHS Web properties under a common online brand, navigation and appearance.
Improvements to the Web site include: access to key online applications from the home page, programs and services information that target specific groups of people, better access to OKDHS jobs and careers information and accessibility compliant content for people with disabilities.
Areas of Interest
With the re-launch, all content on the OKDHS Web site is grouped into eight main categories: Programs/Services, Online Services, Library, OKDHS Local, Careers, Divisions/Offices, Contact Us and Web site Policies. The contents of these categories is as follows:
- Programs/Services - This information provides a single-point of access to program- and service-specific information and online services for people seeking content about one of the more than 40 state and federal programs managed by OKDHS. To access information about OKDHS programs and services, site guests go to pages designed to meet their needs.
- Online Services - This page provides a single-point of access to all public-facing online tools used by OKDHS customers, clients, vendors and providers. Online Services are grouped by businesses, citizens, government, non-profits and researchers.
- Library - To put it simply, this is a collection of reference documents - official forms, statistics, policy, calendar, publications, contact information, an OKDHS glossary, news releases and historical documents.
- OKDHS Local - In this location, site guests can expect to find information about OKDHS resources in all of Oklahoma's 77 counties. In additon to the local Human Services Centers, the county pages currently include information about child support and school-based service workers. In the future, OKDHS will continue to add information about resources, including those for older Oklahomans, persons with developmental disabilities and community resources.
- Careers - This is the hub for information about getting a job with OKDHS and what benefits you can expect once you begin working for the State of Oklahoma.
- Divisions/Offices - This section of the site offers organizational information about all OKDHS divisions. This currently includes everything from telephone to e-mail contact information. It will later include organizational charts, links to policy and strategic and state plans.
- Contact Us - This section combines access to contact information for OKDHS into a single page. The information includes organizational, hotline, e-mail, mailing and online contacts. In the future, OKDHS plans to expand the offering to include direct access to county office contact information.
- Web site Policies - Learn about the ways OKDHS protects your online privacy and security while you use the Web site.
In addition, there are eight significant changes to the home page, including four that are available on every page of the OKDHS Web site. The numbers on the diagram above show the location of these elements on the typical pages and the home page.
Each of these features is detailed below:
- Site Navigation - This feature is included on all OKDHS Web pages and allows Web site guests to access any of the key portals of information (the home page, Programs/Services, Online Services, Library, OKDHS Local, Careers, Divisions/Offices and Contact Us) from any page.
- Top Navigation - This feature is included on all OKDHS Web pages and allows site guests to five items - the OKDHS home page, the OKDHS Calendar, Online Help, Contact Us and the official portal of the State of Oklahoma, www.OK.gov.
- Search - Can't find the information using the point-and-click method? Try using the search box which is located at the top right of every page. We'll be adding new Advanced Search and Advanced Policy Search tools in the coming months that should help find what you want even quicker.
- Online Services - A single-point of access to all public-facing online tools used by OKDHS customers, clients, vendors and providers. While the most popular tools are listed on the home page, site guests can access the more than 30 services by using the "More Online Services" link on the home page. In order to ease the readability of the information on the page, the services are listed in groups - businesses, citizens, government, non-profits and researchers.
- How do I? - Most people who visit the OKDHS Web site are looking for quick answers to their questions. This section is designed to provide access to these answers. OKDHS plans to provide additional access to this information in the coming months.
- Quick Links - This section features a series of links to commonly-used information and online services found on the OKDHS Web site.
- Programs and Services - Site guests can directly access OKDHS programs and services through these groups - adults, children/youth, communities, persons with disabilities, businesses and employers, families, health and medical and older persons. These pages show programs and services available for persons who closely identify with these groups.
- Bottom Navigation - Included on every page, this area contains the OKDHS physical and mailing addresses and a series of links to other important information - online help, the Web site and accessibility policies and a link to provide feedback.
