Unit Information

The Permanency, Adoptions and Independent Living Unit manages the Adoption, Permanency Planning, Independent Living  and Oklahoma Children’s Services programs.

The Adoption Services section is mandated to expedite permanency planning for children and to secure adoptive families for each waiting child with the passage of the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 and changes in Oklahoma Statute.

The Permanency Planning section is responsible for ensuring policy and training meet the federal and state mandates for services that are provided to children and their families who have become involved in the juvenile court system due to child abuse and neglect.

The Oklahoma Independent Living Program is responsible for ensuring policy and training meet the federal and state mandates to ensure transition of young people ages 16-21 from state custody to self-sufficiency and successful adult living.

The Oklahoma Children’s Services program monitors a contract that provides an evidence-based approach to help families involved in Permanency Planning or Family Centered Services cases correct conditions of child abuse and neglect through Comprehensive Home-Based Services and Parent Aide Services.
